Between April 20-23, 2023, the 15th edition of the National Conference of the Romanian Association of Hepato-Bilio-Pancreatic Surgery and Liver Transplant took place, in Bucharest, Crowne Plaza Hotel.
On April 19, the Pre-conference courses took place: Update on liver resection and Update on pancreatic, on ZOOM. The pre-conference courses included 13 presentations by experts in the field of HPB surgery from Romania and by the special guest Prof. Dr. Luca Aldrighetti, Director of the Hepatobiliary and General Surgery Division at San Raffaele Hospital, Milan, Italy.
The 98 papers in the conference were presented by national and international professionals, opinion leaders in the field of high-performance surgery, who gave presentations with a great scientific contribution for the Romanian medical society and related fields. This event was held in parallel rooms, covering the sections: Liver resection, Liver transplantation, Pancreatic resection, Liver treatments and Biliary surgery and was heard by 275 participants.

The official opening took place on April 20: president Prof. Dr. Vladislav Brașoveanu and honorary president Prof. Dr. Irinel Popescu discussed the importance and benefits of this conference.
Leaders in Romanian surgery also held speeches: Senator Florian-Dorel Bodog, Prof. Dr. Nadim Al Hajjar, Prof. Dr. Cristian Lupașcu, Prof. Dr. Călin Molnar, Prof. Dr. Florin Botea.
On April 20, at 1 p.m., the General Assembly of the Romanian Association of Hepato-Bilio-Pancreatic Surgery and Liver Transplant took place where the new president – Prof. Dr. Nadim Al Hajjar, was elected for a period of 2 years.
The session on Saturday, April 22 was dedicated to the completion of half a century of surgery, a tribute to the long and excellent surgical, didactic, publishing, research activity, with multiple awards in the medical field, among which we recall the most outstanding: the introduction of liver transplantation and robotic surgery in Romania by Prof. Dr. Irinel Popescu.
